A Comprehensive Overview of the Tata Nexon

Tata Motors is preparing a significant overhaul for the well-liked Nexon compact SUV, test mules for which have already been spotted on our roads in camouflage. The improved Nexon has been spotted testing once more, but this time with a bit less concealment, displaying a bit more detail. The revamped Nexon will have a new petrol engine under the hood in addition to significant interior and equipment enhancements and extensive visual changes.

Major design overhaul

The previous Nexon sighting suggested that the front and rear fascias had been thoroughly redesigned. With the help of the most recent spy photos, we can now see the grille in greater detail. It features a novel two-part design with diamond-shaped insets on the lower section (similar to the Curvv ICE concept), and its general form is almost Lexus-like.

Even through the camouflage, it is possible to see the upper part of the grille. The main headlamp cluster is anticipated to be located in the bumper below, and a full-width LED light bar is anticipated to sit atop the taller, flatter nose—design cues that strongly resemble the Curvv ideas. The Tata logo will be located in a large recess below the light bar. Additionally, the front bumper is anticipated to have more acute creases and cuts taken directly from the Curvv ideas.

Tata Nexon features a connecting piece visible through the camouflage, which is probably an LED light bar and is also conspicuously apparent in the back, where the tail lamps appear entirely new with a much sharper and slimmer design. The rear bumper and tailboard feature smoother surfaces than the current model's stepped construction. But despite having completely new alloy wheels, the revised Nexon's silhouette has remained mostly unaltered.

Interior and equipment

Although the interior has not yet been seen, we can anticipate a substantially revised dashboard with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen as its centerpiece. Tata cars just introduced this new infotainment screen on the Harrier and Safari, and we know it will soon be offered across the entire automaker lineup. This might be one of the most significant equipment upgrades for the Nexon makeover, coupled with a new digital instrument cluster.

Powertrain options

Major improvements are anticipated both on the outside and inside, with the new generation 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, which Tata previewed with the Curvv ICE concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, being the most significant. This engine replaces the Nexon's existing 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, which generates 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, and produces 123 bhp and 225 Nm. The 1.5-liter, 110hp diesel engine is anticipated to remain in place. It is unknown if the Nexon's manual and AMT transmission options will alter when the new petrol engine refreshes the model. So these are the Tata Nexon specifications.

Launch timeline and rivals

The Nexon facelift's market debut is still a ways off; it's only anticipated to occur in 2024. Tata Nexon price will be more than the existing model, which ranges from Rs 7.80 to Rs 14.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once released, it will continue competing with vehicles like the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and Maruti Brezza.
