Skoda Slavia: Design

The higher-end variants feature LED lighting both at the front and at the back.

The Slavia’s cabin is quite similar to what is offered with its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq. However, it gets circular air-con vents up front and a bronze thick line running the length of the dashboard to give it a little distinction.

Both engines are available with a manual and an automatic transmission option. While the smaller engine gets a torque converter, the larger one gets a DSG.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk Launched

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk update has been launched in India. Priced at ₹30.72 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), the Compass Trailhawk is Jeep's hardcore off-road-focused Compass variant. The standard Jeep Compass originally had a Trailhawk version in India for its pre-facelift variant. However, after the launch of the facelifted Compass, the Trailhawk variant didn't make its appearance until now. Read on for more information on the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk in India.

In the Looks Department

The Compass Trailhawk is an off-road-focused variant of the Jeep Compass and gets certain differentiations in light of that, focused on its purpose.

Cosmetic updates to the Jeep Compass Trailhawk include a different bumper setup front and rear for better approach and departure angles suited to its off-road purpose. It also gets sporty accents and a new alloy wheel design. The Compass Trailhawk even retains its sporty red accents and red tow-hook on the rear.

Cosmetically, the Trailhawk is sportier than its standard sibling. The exterior gets black and red accents, with red and black accents on the hood as well, and "trailhawk" lettering.

More Off-Road

While the standard Compass sticks to its SUV roots and gets certain off-road capabilities, the Trailhawk takes it a step further. While both cars benefit from off-road modes, the Trailhawk also gets a Rock mode that the standard Compass doesn't have. The Trailhawk also gets higher suspension and 17" inch alloys rather than 18" inch ones. The Trailhawk also benefits from underbody protection.

Off-Road in a Couch

The interior of the Trailhawk gets a similar overhaul as the Compass facelift. Expect a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and voice recognition features. The cabin is likely to get a sportier steering wheel, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera and more bells and whistles.

Inside the Trailhawk

The Trailhawk is based on the Compass's top-end variant. But unlike the standard Compass, the Trailhawk gets only a diesel-powered variant. The Compass Trailhawk also gets a four-wheel-drive system with Jeep's SelecTerrain that enables the car to have features such as Rock mode and Hill Decent mode. Powering the Trailhawk is a 2.0-litre Multijet turbocharged diesel mill married to a nine-speed automatic gearbox only. The heart of the beast can put down 170PS and 350Nm of torque.

A Pure Premium SUV

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is priced at ₹30.72 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The Trailhawk competes with the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X3, C5 Aircross and other premium SUVs in India. For more information about the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, such as its on-road price and more, check out autoX's price section.

Updated WagonR Slated to Get All-New Engine Units

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, one of Maruti Suzuki's longest-running four-wheelers, is slated for an update this year. Information suggests that the new WagonR will be getting two new engine units. The tall-boy hatch is long overdue for a modernising update. While it is unclear what sort of cosmetic changes the car will be getting, updates to the powertrain and safety features are on the table. The WagonR's facelift is one of Maruti Suzuki's massive eight launches plan for the year. Read on for more information on the upcoming WagonR.

Exterior Updates

While not much is known about the WagonR's cosmetic updates currently, information suggests that some changes are indeed on the table. Changes for the WagonR may include larger 15-inch alloys for the top-spec variant and new exterior paint colours, along with dual-tone schemes.

New Engines Powering the WagonR

The new WagonR will continue to be offered with two options, a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre engine unit. But both these units will be all-new for 2022. The 1.0-litre K10B that does duties in the current-gen WagonR will be replaced by a new K10C 1.0-litre unit that does duties in other smaller Maruti Suzuki offerings. This unit puts down 66PS and 89Nm. While the unit puts down slightly less power than the current-gen WagonR, its rated for higher fuel mileage. Replacing the WagonR's 1.2-litre unit will be a new 1.2-litre Dual Jet engine that also does duties in the Swift and the new Baleno. The new motor is capable of putting down 89PS. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual and five-speed AMT. AMT variants may get hill hold assist as a new feature as well as engine idle start/stop.

Verdict

The new updates to the WagonR are definitely welcome for the ageing car. Maruti Suzuki hasn't shared any information as such regarding the new WagonR, and more information regarding its cosmetic changes and launch dates should be revealed soon. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is priced starting at ₹5.18 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), and the facelift may be offered at a minor premium as is the norm.
