MG Hector vs Mahindra XUV700 Comparison

The Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector are two of the greatest SUVs you can now purchase in India, making it harder to decide between them because of their similar prices. Even more confusingly, each vehicle employs quite dissimilar strategies to carry out the same tasks.

MG Motor's unveiling of the Hector in India effectively revolutionized the car industry with a vast range of innovative features that rivaled the most recent cell phones. The new Mahindra XUV700, the more recent SUV in this group, is equally as jam-packed with goodies as the MG cars.

These SUVs will be compared based on five major criteria: design, features, powertrain, and price.


Design

The new Mahindra XUV700 appears more stylish and contemporary. The addition of flush door knobs, which also provide a hint of premiums and refinement, further emphasizes this impression of sophistication.



The new Mahindra XUV700 appears more upscale than the Hector, which is the opposite. However, the 6- or 7-seater Hector has a somewhat different appearance than the 5-seater Hector and resembles the new Mahindra XUV700 in terms of luxury and sophistication.


Features

Regarding features, SUVs are recognized for the abundance of available standard amenities, including the MG cars.



Both of these SUVs are equipped with amenities like a 360-degree surround-view camera, a sizable infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered ORVM powered seats, steering-mounted audio controls, a premium music system, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a cooled glove box, a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, and many more.

The Hector maintains its position strongly despite being an older SUV and delivering comparable amenities.


Powertrain

Three distinct engine choices are available for the Hector. The diesel engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that generates 350 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm and 170 bhp at 3,750 rpm. There is just a 6-speed manual transmission available with this engine.

Lastly, a hybrid engine is also available for Hector. The layout of this powerplant is the same as the previous powertrain's, but the starter motor has been swapped out for a belt-type starting generator to provide start/stop functionality. The only available gearbox is a 6-speed manual transmission. Compare cars in India before buying any of the two. 

On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV700 offers a choice of one petrol engine, two diesel engines, and either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission as a gearbox choice.


Price

The basic petrol model with the manual gearbox of the MG Hector price is Rs 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India), while the base diesel variant costs Rs 19.06 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India).

Prices for the base edition of the Mahindra XUV700 with a petrol engine and manual gearbox start at Rs. 13.45 lakh, demonstrating that Mahindra has yet again increased the pricing for its wildly popular SUV (ex-showroom, India).

The base Hector with a diesel engine costs Rs 19.06 lakh, whereas the base diesel XUV700 retails at Rs 13.96 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India).

Hyundai Aura Overview

Hyundai just introduced the facelifted Aura in the Indian market. The manufacturer has upgraded the engine, made minor design changes, and included many safety measures. The Hyundai Aura is priced from 6.29 lakh rupees to 8.87 lakh rupees (both are ex-showroom prices).

The Aura is available from Hyundai in four variations. E, S, SX, and SX all exist (O). Both petrol and a CNG power plant are available for the Aura. The 1.2-liter, four-cylinder normally aspirated engine is the same. Both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT are available as transmissions.



Exterior and the interior highlights

A more upright nose and a two-part grille are new features of the Aura's updated front end. While it no longer has fog lights, the small car now has new LED DRLs in the shape of an inverted L at the bumper's margins. While it retains the same design as the 15-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lights, there are no alterations to the vehicle's sides or back. Aside from the base, all trim levels of the redesigned Aura feature a boot-lid spoiler. Hyundai Aura price is worth all these features it boasts.

Instead of the Vintage Brown option from the outgoing generation, the small sedan from Hyundai now comes in Starry Night.

The inside of the cabin is the same, but new seat upholstery, improved footwell lighting, and an updated instrument panel have been added.


Powertrain details

The 1.2-liter engine that powers the Aura makeover remains the same. Therefore there are no internal alterations. Its engine produces 83 bhp and 114 Nm when connected to a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. Hyundai also provides a factory-installed CNG kit for the Aura's 1.2-liter petrol engine, which produces 69 bhp and 95 Nm of torque and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

All powertrains are currently E20 fuel-ready and RDE-compliant. But, the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produced 98 bhp and 172 Nm of torque is no longer available for the facelifted small car.

 

Variants and Hyundai Aura Features

The updated Aura comes in five trim levels: E, S, SX, SX(O), and SX+. It now has many new convenience and safety features compared to the previous model. On the other hand, the pricier variations come with 6 airbags, ESC, ISOFIX anchorages, hill-hold assist, and automated headlights. It now comes standard with four airbags, ABS, and EBD. Hyundai Aura specifications are great for the price it is given for.

The 8.0-inch touchscreen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, movable rear headrests, automated temperature control, and a wireless charger are still on the tiny sedan's list of convenient amenities. However, new features like Type-C charging connectors and an updated 3.5-inch MID in the instrument cluster are now available on higher-spec variants.

Rivals

The redesigned Hyundai cars compete in the market against other small sedans, including the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor, and Honda Amaze.

Hero Vida V1 vs. Ather 450X – Comparison

Finally available, Hero Vida's an eagerly awaited V1 electric scooter. A plethora of functions are hidden behind the Vida V1's appealing design language, which combines a unique but futuristic appearance. However, can it compete with the highly popular Ather 450X?


Design

The Vida is unlike anything we have ever seen from Hero's stable, with its simple appearance and beautiful demeanour. It resembles a hip modern e-scooter thanks to its sharp fascia, robust instrument panel, and slick LED indicators.



The Ather 450X's third iteration sees little modifications, yet the scooter still has a fashionable appearance in 2022. Everything about the scooter fits nicely and adds up to give it a slim and aggressive appearance, from the front apron-mounted LED headlamp to the slick body wrapping. Although the design is a personal matter, you wouldn't be making a mistake by selecting either of them for their style. Compare scooters in India before buying, right over at autoX.


Specification

A motor with an IP68 rating is included in both the V1 Pro and V1 Plus, and it is said to enable the scooters to reach a peak speed of 80kmph. To contrast with the V1 Plus' 3.4 seconds, the V1 Pro's 3.2 seconds 0–40 km/h acceleration time is faster. To be clear, the same motor that produces 3.9kW continuously and 6kW at its max powers both devices.

A 6kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) Motor is utilized by the Ather 450X, and it is belt-driven to the back wheel. It can accelerate from 0 to 40 kilometres per hour in 3.3 seconds, which places it in the midst of the V1 Pro and V1 Plus.



A 3.44kWh replaceable battery pack, rated for a 143 km Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range, is included with the Hero Vida V1 Plus. On the other hand, the V1 Pro has an amazing IDC range of 165 km and a slightly larger 3.94kWh replaceable battery pack.

A 3.7kWh non-removable lithium-ion battery pack, which the Ather 450X's motor is connected to, is stated to have a range of 105 km in eco mode & 85 km in ride mode. The 450X's IDC range is supposedly 146 kilometres.


Features

The Ather 450X has a telescopic fork with a monoshock suspension system, and a front disc brake as well as a rear drum brake for stopping. It is supported by two 12-inch wheels with 90-section front wheels and 100-section rear wheels.

Most e-scooters excel in their features, and the Vida V1 is no exception. It has a 7-inch TFT touchscreen instrument panel, and four riding modes (Eco, Sport, Ride, and Custom), and the fourth mode may be completely customized, as suggested by the name. Additionally available are keyless entry, cruise control, turn-by-turn directions, and many other features. Additionally, it has a 26-litre under-seat storage area. Hero Vida Bike seem to have gained the right balance between its features and battery pack.


Price

Priced at Rs. 145,000 for the Vida V1 Plus and Rs. 1,59,00 for the V1 Pro, respectively (both ex-showroom). The design and functionality are there for it to compete well with its competition, even though it may be significantly more than what we had anticipated. Vida V1's price is, hence, worth it. 

The Ather, on the other hand, has a hefty price tag of Rs 1,57,400 (ex-showroom Delhi), but it also offers a ton of amenities and alluring performance. However, we would have been happy to see some new colours in the third version of the scooter.
