Maruti Suzuki has finally launched an updated version of the Dzire CNG in India. The Dzire is essentially a mid-sized sedan version of one of the brand's longest-running hatchbacks, the Maruti Suzuki Swift. While the Dzire's previous CNG variant was available for sale only for fleets, the new variant is for the first time available for private customers as well. Read on for more information, launch price and more about the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG.
New
Powertrain in the CNG Dzire
While the new Dzire
looks the same cosmetically, it gets new updates under the hood. Powering the
new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the same 1.2-litre K12M DualJet unit that does
duties in the Dzire petrol variant. In CNG spec though, this engine puts down
77PS and 98.5Nm of peak torque. Compared to the petrol Dzire which gives 90PS
and 113Nm, that’s 13PS and 14.5Nm lesser. The Dzire CNG is paired to a
five-speed manual transmission only.
This is the first
time Maruti Suzuki has
given the CNG format on its 1.2-litre engine rather than a 1.0-litre three-pot
motor. This 1.2-litre unit is the same one that does duties in the new Baleno
and the WagonR. Not only that, the Dzire claims a class-leading fuel efficiency
of 31.12 km/kg in the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG.
While there are no
cosmetic or equipment changes to the Dzire, it gets updated suspension, ECU and
injection system to better and safely accommodate the CNG system.
