Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Honda Unicorn Comparison

While commuting within cities, most people in India often use commuter motorcycles. These bikes are practical, fuel-efficient, sufficiently powerful for regular city use, and affordable. While most people often choose a 125cc motorbike or an entry-level 100cc or 110cc commuter, some individuals still choose a formal yet sporty motorcycle with commuter-like features. To determine which of the two bikes is the best premium commuter in India, we shall compare them in this post. Hence, the Honda Unicorn and Bajaj Pulsar are here.

Looks and Colour options

The customers' favorite traditional design language remains in the Unicorn. The pulsar facelift gives it a new premium headlamp cowl with several chrome details, the recognizable large tail lamp, the 3D Honda wing mark logo on the fuel tank, and chrome slashes on the side covers. The bike has a strong stance that looks great. Also, it has a roomy long seat and understated black inlays on the engine and exhaust, which add to its charm. Three color options are available for the Bajaj Pulsar N160: Imperial Red Metallic, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black.

Three bikes are part of the Bajaj Pulsar Series: the Pulsar Neon, the Pulsar Standard, and the Pulsar Twin Disc. Except for the Twin Disc's larger tires and disc brakes on both ends, all three motorcycles have similar mechanical components and visual differences. Motorcycles from the Bajaj Pulsar Series have a great athletic appearance. The Bajaj Pulsar N160 Neon is available in three color variations - Neon Red, Silver, and Neon Lime Green. The normal 150 is available in Black Grey and Black Red, while the 150 twin-disc model is available in Black Blue and Black Red colors.

Engine

A new 162.7cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, BS6-compliant engine is available for the Honda Bikes here (the Unicorn 150's BS4 engine had a 149.2cc displacement). This motor produces 14 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM and 12.7 bhp power at 7500 RPM. It has a 5-speed manual transmission with Honda's Eco Technology (HET) for improved performance. It provides excellent mileage of 55 to 60 km per liter in actual driving situations. Compare Bikes in India before buying any, only at autoX.

BS6-compliant 164cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected DTS-i engine powers the Bajaj Pulsar. Combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, this engine produces 14.65 Nm of torque at 6750 RPM and 15.68 bhp of power at 8750 RPM. In actual use, the Pulsar achieves respectable mileage of about 50–55 km/l. Although the Pulsar has greater power, it should be noted that the Unicorn has more torque at a lower engine speed, making it much better for city driving.

Price

The Honda Unicorn price is Rs. 1.05 lakh for the sole Standard BS-Vi version. In contrast, the cost of the Bajaj Pulsar N160 ranges from Rs. 1.23 lakh for the Single Channel ABS variant and goes up to Rs. 1.28 lakh for the Dual Channel ABS variant (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom). The Honda is something that may appeal to the average Joe on a budget, but it’s the Bajaj that comes across as the more potent motorcycle, albeit it’s a bit pricey.
