If you are looking for a commuter bike, you can consider the TVS Raider or the Hero Glamour. But it all narrows down to your preferences and budget. Speaking of the budget, the TVS Raider is relatively more expensive than the Hero Glamour. The Raider is also among the bestselling TVS bikes in India. That's because this two-wheeler has a respectable performance with good mileage at an affordable price. However, at the same time, Hero Glamour is also among the bestsellers on the 125cc bandwagon. So, let's see how the TVS Raider stacks up against the Hero Glamour.
Under
the frame
For starters, let's
know about the TVS Raider. The BS6 compliance of this 124.8cc engine makes it
suitable for generating 11.2 bhp at 7500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm.
Its cooling system consists of either an air- or oil-cooled system. The rear
wheel receives power via a five-speed manual transmission.
It has a standard
clutch type, i.e., the wet clutch plate, commonly found in every mass-market
two-wheeler. Moreover, its fuel tank capacity measures 10 litres, identical to
the TVS Raider. As for fuel economy, the TVS Raider's real-world mileage is 57
kmpl. Please note that this is the average mileage reported by the
owners.
The Hero Glamour, on
the other hand, has a 124.7cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10.7 bhp at
7500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. Moreover, it only comes with an
air-cooled cooling system. The Hero Glamour shares its engine with other Hero bikes,
such as the Hero Super Splendor and the Glamour XTec.
This engine comes
with a standard five-speed manual transmission. As mentioned earlier, it has
the same fuel capacity as the TVS Raider.
And as far as fuel
economy is concerned, the Hero Glamour's city mileage is 55 kmpl. It is the
owners' reported average mileage.
As for the braking
setup, the top-range variants of these two bikes get a disc-drum layout.
Furthermore, the front brake size is 240mm, while the rear brake size is 130mm.
Speaking of brakes, the Hero Glamour gets an individual braking system, while
the TVS Raider gets a synchronized braking system.
As far as the
suspension setup is concerned, they both get telescopic front forks and
five-step adjustable rear shock absorbers. With this setup, these bikes are
well-suited for Indian roads. Due to this, they can easily absorb potholes,
offering a comfortable ride experience. However, the TVS Raider 125 has a
gas-charged rear suspension. Considering the offerings on this TVS, the Raider's
price seems like a good value for money.
Features
The top variants of
these bikes have more or less the same features. They both get a digital
instrument cluster with connected bike technology that is Bluetooth-enabled.
They also get automatic headlights as standard.
Furthermore, other
features that aren't present in the Glamour are the ride modes, top-speed
recorder, and gear-shift indicator, to name a few. Besides those, they both get
an all-LED lighting setup.
Moreover, the Hero
Glamour also misses out on the low-battery indicator, unlike the TVS
Raider.
