Over the past few years, consumers' preferences have changed from sedans to compact and subcompact SUVs. The reason behind this paradigm is the benefits of owning an SUV. But this doesn't indicate that other body types are passe. To date, consumers do buy sedans, hatchbacks, etc., but their sales have relatively gone down compared to SUVs. In addition, every buyer has a budget and, more importantly, a purpose. However, if SUVs are not your only preference and you are looking for a different car body at an affordable price, below is the list of cars under 10 lakh.
Hyundai
i20: The Hyundai i20 is one
of the best hatchbacks in the country. Since its debut in India, it has been
Hyundai's best-selling model.
The current
generation of the i20 is the first generation to get the N-Line trim. The price
of standard variants ranges between ₹7.03 lakh and ₹11.53 lakh (all prices
ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the i20 N-Line's price ranges between
₹9.95 lakh and ₹12.02 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Maruti
Baleno: The Baleno is one of Maruti Suzuki's
best-selling cars under 10 lakh in India. The new generation of the Maruti Suzuki
Baleno's silhouette remains unchanged, but it receives a few tweaks on
its exterior and interior. The exterior gets revised headlights and taillights,
and it is now feature-loaded to compete with its rivals. The Baleno has only
one petrol engine on offer. The engine specifications of the Baleno include a
1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque.
The price of the
Baleno starts at ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes up to ₹9.71 lakh
(ex-showroom, Delhi).
Tata Punch: It's been a few months since the launch of the sub-four-metre SUV, the Tata Punch. The Punch is one of the most feature-loaded sub-compact SUVs in its segment.
The front
fascia of the Tata Punch is more upright, which gives it a rugged SUV-like
look. Under its hood, it gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 84bhp and
113Nm of torque. The Tata Punch's price starts at ₹5.82 lakh (ex-showroom,
Delhi).
Honda
Amaze: The Honda Amaze is one
of the best-selling sub-compact sedans in the country. The second generation of
the Honda Amaze received a facelift last year in 2021. Since it's a facelift,
it gets a few tweaks on the inside and outside, which give the car a more
premium look. The Honda Amaze is the best car under 10 lakh on this
list. The Honda Amaze has a starting price of ₹6.43 lakh (ex-showroom,
Delhi).
Maruti
Suzuki Dzire: The Maruti Suzuki Dzire
has been India's favourite sub-compact sedan for more than a decade. This
vehicle is popular among private owners as well as fleet owners. The Dzire has
the same engine offering as the Baleno.
Additionally, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets a CNG variant. The price starts at
₹6.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
