Kia Sonet Facelift 2024 Overview

The Kia Sonet subcompact SUV was launched in 2020 and has been a consistent top-seller for the brand in India. For 2024, Kia has given the Sonet a mid-cycle facelift to freshen up its look and add new features. In this article, we take an in-depth look at the key changes introduced in the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift.

Exterior Design Updates
The first thing that catches the eye are the redesigned headlamps and grille on the 2024 Sonet. The new LED headlamps have a distinctive "crown jewel" design with integrated LED DRLs that improve visibility. Below them sits the new dark chrome grille with thicker surrounds that enhance the SUV's premium appeal.

Moving to the rear, the LED tail lamps now have a connected strip design similar to the Seltos. The rear bumper has also been reprofiled with body-colored inserts and a new reflector layout. Kia has subtly tweaked the side profile with a refreshed C-pillar black insert and new dual-tone alloy wheel designs, depending on the variant.

Interior & Feature Upgrades
Stepping inside, the 2024 Sonet gets an updated interior with a new dual-tone black-and-white color scheme on certain Kia Sonet variants. More significantly, it retains the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and now packs a fully digital instrument cluster, both of which now host the ADAS features.

The infotainment screen also comes with Kia's latest UVO Connect telematics system with features like remote control, vehicle tracking, and OTA updates. The crisp full-digital instrument cluster now offers different color themes depending on the drive mode.

In terms of features, the Sonet facelift scores with the addition of ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and wireless smartphone charging on higher-end trims. Safety has also been boosted with 6 airbags and advanced driver assistance systems like blind spot monitoring.

Engine & Transmission Options
Under the hood, the 2024 Kia Sonet continues with the same engine options, including an 81 bhp 1.2-liter petrol, 118 bhp 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, and a 113 bhp 1.5-liter turbo diesel. The turbo-petrol gets an upgraded 7-speed DCT automatic for smoother shifts.

The diesel variant is offered with a 6-speed manual, automatic torque converter, and 6-speed iMT clutchless manual transmissions. Kia claims improved fuel efficiency across the range thanks to engine tweaks and the start-stop system. Since we’ve just discussed the Kia Sonet specifications, let’s now move on to how much it costs.

Pricing and Variants
Kia has announced the official 2024 Kia Sonet prices, and it starts from Rs. 7.99 lakh for the base variant. The X-Line Diesel AT, which is the priciest of the Sonets, comes at a whopping Rs. 15.75 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).

The lineup includes 6-7 variants divided into HTE, HTK, HTX, GTX+, and X-Line trims. Customers can also choose from a wide array of color and material options.

Verdict
With its refreshed styling, new features, and advanced technologies, the 2024 Kia car you see here is set to strengthen its position in the hotly contested sub-4m SUV segment. Its sporty drive, ample space, and segment-best connected car tech should continue appealing to urban buyers. Backed by Kia's strong after-sales, the updated Sonet is worth a look.
