Top Selling Cars in India

 


From sedans to SUVs, hatchbacks to MPVs, let’s read about the top-selling cars of each body type. However, as of 2021, hatchbacks are currently leading in terms of sales, but these days, SUVs are catching up with the pace of hatchbacks. That’s why there are more launches of SUVs and sub-compact SUVs these days.

Here are the top five most top-selling cars in India:

  • Toyota Fortuner: Known for its SUV capabilities and reliability, the Toyota Fortuner is one of the best-selling SUVs in India. There are two trims on offer: the Fortuner and the Legender. It’s offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The Toyota Fortuner’s price ranges between ₹31.79Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and ₹44.63Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

 

  • Toyota Innova: One of the best-selling cars in India among fleet owners and private vehicle owners as well. There are five trims on offer: ‘G’, ‘G+’, ‘GX’, ‘VX’, and ‘ZX’. The Toyota Innova Crysta is available in seven-and eight-seater configurations. It offers a spacious cabin and captain seats at the rear for a better rear-seat experience. The Toyota Innova Crysta price starts from ₹17.86Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base model, ‘G’ and goes up to ₹25.86Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top variant, ‘ZX’.

 


  • Maruti Suzuki WagonR: First launched in 1999, it has been a bestseller in our country for decades. Despite being a hatchback, it has a tall stance, which gives it a sub-compact SUV look. It is low on maintenance and returns good mileage, so it wins people’s hearts. Currently, the third generation of WagonR is on the market. The WagonR is sold in four trims: ‘LXi’, ‘VXi’, ‘ZXi’, and ‘ZXi+’. Maruti also offers a CNG-spec on the base model and second-from-base ‘VXi’ trims. It ranges between ₹5.48Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and ₹7.20Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

 

  • Maruti Dzire: This sub-4-meter sedan is one of the most popular sedans in our country because of its value for money. Their reliable engines can run up to lakhs of kilometres and don’t require major rework. It has four trims on offer: ‘LXi’, ‘VXi’, ‘ZXi’, and ‘ZXi+’. The ‘VXi’, and ‘ZXi’ come with an optional CNG-spec as well. Its price ranges between ₹6.24Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and ₹9.18Lakhs (ex-showroom).

 


  • Tata Punch: A recently launched, sub-compact SUV, the Tata Punch, has managed to be among the most popular cars in India. It’s made on the same platform as Tata Altroz, which had achieved a 5-star rating for safety. So, it might be considered the safest vehicle in its segment. It has four trims on offer: ‘Pure’, ‘Adventure’, ‘Accomplished’, and ‘Creative’. The Tata Punch is priced between ₹5.83Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and ₹9.49Lakhs (ex-showroom).
