Bajaj Dominar 250 Overview

The Bajaj Dominar 250 was launched in 2020 as a more affordable version of the popular Dominar 400. Priced starting at Rs. 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom), the Dominar 250 aims to offer big bike performance and features at a mid-size motorcycle price point. Let's take a closer look at what this commuter-sport hybrid offers.

Design and Styling
They are taking design cues from its larger sibling, the Bajaj Dominar 250, which sports an aggressive yet athletic look. Its twin-barrel exhaust, muscular fuel tank, and split seats lend it a muscular road presence. Available in three colors - Citrus Rush, Sparkling Black, and Racing Red - buyers can choose a shade that matches their personality.

The full-LED headlamp integrated with DRLs ensures great visibility even in low-light conditions. Other styling elements include an upswept exhaust, a blacked-out engine, and bold graphics on the fuel tank and side panels. Its sporty design will turn heads while commuting or touring on the highways.

Engine and Performance
The Dominar 250 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder 248.8cc engine. It produces a maximum power of 26.6 bhp and 23.5 Nm of peak torque, enough for zipping through city traffic or overtaking on the highways.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch for smooth gearshifts. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of around 130 mph. The tall 5th and 6th gears allow it to cruise comfortably at triple-digit speeds without breaking a sweat. So, these were the Bajaj Dominar 250 specifications. Now, Let us look at the bike's features.

Features and Technology
In terms of features, the Dominar 250 gets an all-digital instrument console with readouts such as the gear position indicator, fuel gauge, trip meter, odometer, and more. Safety is handled by a disc brake on both wheels and dual-channel ABS for controlled braking in emergencies.

Other notable features include an engine kill switch, a side-stand engine cut-off, and a bungee strap under the split pillion seat for luggage tie-down. The 37mm USD front forks and mono-shock rear suspension offer a plush ride quality over different terrains.

Pricing, Variants and Rivals
The Bajaj Dominar 250 price is set at Rs. 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in a single fully loaded variant. Some of its direct competitors include the KTM 250 Duke, Suzuki Gixxer 250, and Yamaha FZ25. While pricier than some rivals, the Dominar 250 undercuts the KTM 250 Duke by around Rs. 85,000.

Should You Buy It?
The Bajaj bike makes a strong case for those looking for a do-it-all commuter motorcycle with sporty aesthetics and features. It offers big-bike performance from its liquid-cooled engine, along with premium components like USD forks and ABS.

Its muscular road presence will satisfy enthusiasts, while the plush seat and tall gears allow for comfortable long-distance touring. At Rs. 1.84 lakh, it also undercuts some rivals in price. The only potential drawback is its 180kg kerb weight, which can be felt during hard acceleration.

Overall, the Dominar 250 strikes a nice balance of being an able commuter and a fun weekend tourer or highway cruiser. Its combination of looks, features, and performance make it excellent value for money in the premium commuter segment.
